Do I need to change my refund policy?

Merchants are required to advertise and have a fair and reasonable policy for providing refunds and exchanges. In addition, the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act (CCCFA) allows customers to cancel their credit contract with Payright within 7 working days of receiving their credit and disclosure statement by email from Payright. If a customer notifies Payright of their wish to cancel inside this timeframe, customers may elect to pay the balance of the purchase price directly to the Merchant or have their deposit refunded (either by Payright if Payright received the deposit or by the Merchant if the deposit was paid to the Merchant directly). If the customer does not wish to pay the balance, the customer must return any property acquired to the Merchant.

In addition to this legal right of customers under the CCCFA, Merchants must let Payright know immediately of any refund or cancellation of the purchase including where a customer elects to use an alternative method to fund the purchase. Merchants must not provide any refund by way of cash, direct debt, credit or cheque to a customer directly where a customer has purchased their product with a Payright Account.
